An Introduction to Slots

by Leia on Dec.22, 2009, under Slots

The slots are possibly the most liked games to play at casinos. On any given night, count on most of the slot machines to be packed with eager gamblers. They come in a variety of gambling levels; some just cost $.05 a spin and others can cost as much as $20 a spin. Although slot games are a wagering tool, a number of people are intimidated by the big money card tables and are partial to the entertainment and exhilaration of a good slot machine game.

The initial slot machine was built in 1895 and was dubbed the "Liberty Bell." Invented by a California machinist, the earliest slot games had three reels with diamonds, hearts, spades and a cracked Liberty Bell painted on each. Before this invention, the phrase "slot machines" was employed to describe different types of vending machines.

The first real widespread use of slots in US betting houses is credited to the Flamingo Hotel, Sin City somewhere around the 40’s. The head of the brick and mortar casino had originally thought the slot machines would be amazing to fascinate apathetic wives of some of the largest whales of the casino. He didn’t anticipate that slot machines would be a fun activity for nearly everyone and that the appeal would extend further than the tired wives. Now, it is said, the slots comprise over 2/3rds of all income brought in by American casinos.

Slot machine games beyond a doubt have a full history. From the little creation of the mid-1800’s to the multi-million dollar industry of today, the slots will continue to develop in prominence.
